If you own a bullet journal or planner, then habit tracking is most likely something that you have already heard about. Many inserts, planners or diaries seem to have a habit tracker “pre-built” into them, but what habits should we be tracking exactly?
Water Tracking & Drinking
This may come to no surprise, but the top habit to track has to be your water intake. Not only is it extremely important to stay hydrated, but water is the best energy drink you can possibly have. Therefore, if you want to track habits to help you become more productive, then drinking water could definitely be your first step! As a rule of thumb, humans in general need to consume 8 glasses of water (approximately 250ml per glass).
Number of Breaks
Taking breaks? Surely this should be hindering your productive progress, right? Taking those well earned breaks is needed in everyday life, no matter what type of job you are in! Our brains can only concentrate for approximately 20-40 minutes at a time, without starting to drift away. So, if you want to stay on the ball, don’t forget to add in those 5-10 minute breaks!
Much like your water intake, exercise is another amazing habit which we could all try to do a little more… yes, I am including myself in this! Exercising helps to pump blood and oxygen around our bodies, helping our brain to become more alert. In addition to this, if you like running during the day, you’ll also get your daily dose of Vitamin D!
Another amazing habit to start tracking is self care. It is necessary to be looking after yourself, not just on the outside, but on the inside as well. Just completing one thing a day that will make you smile, from a bath to reading a book, can you help you on your way to achieving your perfect self care balance.
Lastly, with work consuming around 70% of our lives, it can be very easy to forget the hobbies that once interested us as children and young adults. Tracking your different hobbies will remind you to get back into the small things that interest us… and you never know… that hobby may turn into your new job one day!
